For Union Employers

What is Collectively Bargained Workers’ Compensation?

Collectively Bargained Workers’ Compensation (CBWC) is a different take on the usual workers' comp system, set up through deals made between a union and its partner contractors. It uses a custom Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) approach, has a list of pre-approved medical providers, and involves teamwork between labor and management. All this makes the process of dealing with workers’ comp claims smoother and more straightforward.

What are the Benefits for Union Employers?

• You get access to top-notch medical care.
• There's a savvy, hands-on guide – the Ombudsperson – to help you through the claims maze.
• Injured workers get better and back to work quicker.
• A quick and easy way to sort out arguments – ADR – which cuts down on time and hassle.
• A tried-and-true way to keep a check on claims expenses.
• A strategy to avoid or tone down costly and drawn-out legal battles.

We're pretty sure you'll see some big cost savings in your overall workers’ comp program if you jump into the Painters & Allied Trades ADR Insurance Program.

• Your team will likely spend less time dealing with and chasing down claims.
• Your employee will get top-quality and prompt medical care from a doctor list that both labor and management have given the nod to.
• You'll see your overall workers’ comp program benefit from better control of loss reserves and lower claim costs, which means your experience modification could go down, which in turn contributes to a lower premium.
• A huge plus of ADR is getting to be hands-on in the claims process. You can talk straight to the ombudsman and get involved in the mediation/arbitration stuff to make sure your side of the story is heard loud and clear.
